Sam Spiteri's grandfather gave him the pony, Emily, after the child was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy shortly after birth. On Wednesday his owner was horrified to find the blind pony dead in his pasture in Shenango Township, Mercer County. | BENSON — The Pony Express will ride again during Butterfield Stage Days on Oct. 13, and the U.S. Postal Service will issue a special postmark to commemorate the event. At noon, special Pony Express riders will be sworn in by Postmaster Lesley Tower in a ceremony in Lions Park. | LAKE LOS ANGELES - Two pit bulls were shot by a sheriff's deputy Monday when one of the dogs tried to escape and another lunged toward him after they had viciously mauled a pony, officials said.
